Walgreen's is a MUST for you this week for two reasons: nursing pads & teething gel. Obviously, by today's title post, you men should know that it's not a safe zone for you if you're squeamish about this stuff. Look away! Look away!
Evenflo breast pads are $4.99 with a $4 RR (Register Reward, a little coupon that is spit out of the machine when you pay) and Hyland Teething Gel is $5 with a $5 RR. Not to be confused with the teething tablets that were recalled and poisonous. There is a $1 off coupon on Hyland's website for the teething gel. You can save it to your computer to print later if you need more, or print off a few right away.
Transaction #1
Hyland's Teething Gel $5
- Hyland's Coupon - $1
Total $4 + tax & $5 RR
Transaction #2
Evenflo Breast Pads $4.99
Laffy Taffy (or other small filler) $.15
- $5 RR
Total $.14 + tax
Transaction #3
Teething Gel $5
Laffy Taffy $.15
- $1 Coupon
- $4 RR
Total $.15 + tax
For these 3 transaction, you pay $4.29 plus tax. Awesome!
Repeat Transaction 2&3. You have to have a small cheap item because after the first transaction you're using a register reward and coupon for the teething gel (same # of items as # of coupons) and the nursing pads are a penny less than the Register Reward which won't allow you to do it.
Get the necessities!

'Method' to My Madness
Yesterday was the first time in ages that I went to Walgreen's. They haven't had a whole lot lately in the way of items I want. But this week, they do!
First up, Method hand soap. I love it. It smells amazing. Plus the green one looks perfect anywhere in my house. The price this week is $2.99 and you get a $2 RR back to use on a future purchase. Score!
Next, pick flossers. I love them and it's a great deal this week. A pack of 90 is $2.00 and you get a $2 RR to use on a future purchase.
Last in my purchase was Almay makeup. It's 30% off this week, and there's a $2 Walgreen's coupon you can use in the book at the cosmetics counter. Plus, when you buy an Almay item, you get a $5 RR to use. So if the item is on sale for $5, you use the $2 coupon, you pay $3 and get back $5 to use on a future purchase.
Here's what my purchases looked like:
Transaction #1
Method Hand Soap- $2.99
Dental Flossers- $2.00
Total= $4.99 + tax
Received 2- $2 RR
Transaction #2
Almay Makeup- $6.99
2 Snickers Eggs- $1.00 (Easter's coming!!!)
- $2 Wags Coupon
- $2 RR from Method
- $2 RR from Flossers
Total = $1.99 + tax
Received $5 RR
Transaction #3
Method Hand Soap- $2.99
Dental Flossers- $2.00
Laffy Taffy- $0.15
- $5 RR
Total= $0.14 + tax
You can use the Method RR on the Flossers to only pay tax, also. The sale ends today, so get out there and get some!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm really excited for dinner tonight. I'm going to make tilapia with mango salsa...Yum. Then my hubs and I will enjoy dessert, which I won't post on here because, well, he reads these and it's kind of a surprise.
But then...on Tuesday...the day after Valentine's...the candy starts to clearance. And that, my friends, is something to get excited about!!!!
Easter is right around the corner. And with so many pastel colors being used on V-day and those same colors being used at Easter, I can buy all the chocolate I need for my kids' Easter egg hunt. There are somethings I can't get, like Bunny Munny, until the Easter candy rolls out, but that doesn't stop me from buying the rest! Plus, Bunny Munny is more nostalgic and for me than it is for my kiddos.
But don't just stop at Easter candy! What do you have coming up? Do you have birthdays to celebrate? Will you be having a pinata for a party? Think in advance for what you are going to need candy at and buy it now! Or if you don't need it in the next 6-8 weeks, buy after Easter. It's a great way to cut down on expenses for upcoming events.
My favorite place to buy clearance seasonal candy used to be Walgreen's. Lately though, a lot of people have been visiting there for the clearance candies and I don't always get what I want. My local fave (Reasor's) is another great place to buy the clearance candy, as is Target. Make a list and buy ahead!

I Love A Good Deal

My kids love Special K. I love Special K. I like to eat it when I have a sweet tooth but am trying to be good. Of course I think having 3 bowls might counteract any intention of saving on calories while satisfying a craving...
So this week at Walgreen's, Special K is on sale 2/$5. When you buy 2 boxes you get a $2 Register Reward (RR) to use on a future purchase. That means you can turn right around and do another transaction using it. So if you wanted to use it to buy more Special K, then you just take all 4 boxes to the cashier and tell them you have 2 transactions. To make it an even better deal, though, go here and sign up, then print out your buy 1 box get one free. You can print it twice by pushing the back button. So here's what the deal would look like:
Transaction 1
2 Boxes of Special K $5
- $2.50 free box coupon
= $2.50 + tax
Receive a $2 RR
Transaction 2
2 Boxes of Special K $5
- $2.50 free box coupon
- $2 RR
= $.50 + tax
You won't get a RR on the next transaction if you pay with the RR from the first. 4 boxes for $3 + tax is a great price. If you have a $2 RR from a previous transaction then use it to pay only $1 plus tax. Around here we eat cereal on the weekends only, so 4 boxes last us quite a while. Unless I get a sweet tooth.

Two Things
There are two things on my mind today. First and most important, I'm in the mood to bake all things yummy! Of course healthy too. By healthy I really mean full of fat but too delish to really care =) So I'll start with a small batch of Peppermint Bark, followed by Whole Wheat Banana Bread. For lunch Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches (thank you Elvis!), and to top it off something that has frosting on it! I haven't decided what that something will be yet, but frosting is definitely on the menu! Maybe by itself.
Second thing on my mind, since I am somewhat of a budget-ista (like fashionista of budgeting) then I'm thinking of something budgety. This week at Walgreen's you can get some great deals. First off, if you spend $25 in store, you'll get $5 in Register Rewards or Jingle Cash as they're called for Christmas. JC or RR's (for short) can be used at a later date. Actually usually you can turn around and use it right then, but the $5 for $25 purchase is to be used at a later date.
Back to the deals. Ragu (2/$3) or Hellman's ($3) buy $15 worth and get $5 in RR's. Add to that 6 Hallmark cards for $.99 each- which will get you $5 in RR's. Add Revlon Top Speed nail polish for $5.99- get a $5 RR.
NOW!!! Go to the cosmetic's counter and get the "All Things Bright and Beautiful" Booklet inside is a $1 of any Revlon cosmetic. Here's what it should look like:
10 jars of Ragu- $15.00
6 Hallmark cards- $5.94
1 Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish- $5.99
TOTAL $26.93 + tax
Minus $1 coupon
$25.93 + tax
Get back (4) $5 RR= $20 in RR
If you already have Register Rewards, use them to make your expenses even less!!!
